How To Buy Heros
By Scott Smith
Welcome Heros, we are going to go over how to buy your Heros tokens. Heros is an ERC20 token that can easily be obtained using the Uniswap app. This all may sound out of your league, but I assure you it is effortless once you understand the steps.
Before we start, let me take a moment to explain to you what Heros is. First, Heros is a deflationary token that gives to charity. What this means is as a Heros holder, your overall holdings will increase while the overall supply of tokens decreases. This happens with every transaction made. Then, a 1% fee is collected in Ethereum to donate to a community decided charity at specific milestones during each transaction. That is why Heros is a Crypto with a heart!
Now that you decided Heros is a token you want to add to your portfolio let me share how you can obtain it. To buy Heros, you will need a few things first, a way to buy Ethereum. Or Eth.
How to buy Ethereum
You can purchase Eth several ways. The most common is through Coinbase, Binance, Kukoin, etc. These will require you to do a KYC (Know Your Customer). It will require personal information and a bank account to fund your account. This process can take anywhere from a few hours to a week. So be patient. I use Coinbase, but that does not mean that may be the correct one for you. Check them out and determine the best option that fits your needs. After the KYC process is complete, you can now use the funds you added to your wallet and purchase Ethereum. Think of Ethereum as a foreign currency. If you are a resident of Japan, your currency is the Yen. If you decide to visit the United States, you need to convert your Yen to US Dollars to purchase anything. In this case, we are going from your country to the Ethereum Blockchain. So naturally, to buy anything on the blockchain, you need to use its native currency. In this case, it is Ethereum. So when in Rome do as the Romans. Buy some Ethereum.
Once you have Ethereum, we now need to get a crypto wallet. Like the wallet, you keep your fiat currency just in a digital format. You have some choices here as well. The most popular is Coinbase Wallet, Metamask Wallet, and Trust Wallet. Of course, there are others to choose from, but they all work in similar ways. For this example, we are going to use Metamask Wallet. This process is the same for mobile devices. However, on mobile devices, you will need to download the Metamask app from your app store. If the mobile app is your preferred method then skip ahead to Metamask Setup.
Get a Matemask Wallet
You can obtain a Metamask wallet on a computer, mobile device, and even a tablet. For this example, we are going to use the computer method. Once you are at your computer, use Google Chrome or Firefox to browse. We will do this tutorial for Chrome. Go to https://metamask.io. This will prompt you to download and install Metamask to Chrome. You’ll see the MetaMask fox icon populate next to your address bar. Click the fox icon, and MetaMask will open up.
Metamask Setup
Create a New password. Then, write down the Secret Backup Phrase in a safe place. Be sure to never to share your Secret Backup Phrase with anyone! MetaMask will create a new Ethereum address for you. Now you have your wallet created, your password and secret Phrase tucked away somewhere safe, let’s put the Ethereum you purchased earlier into your wallet. To do this, we will need to locate your wallet address. It is located directly under your wallet name. When you click on it, it will automatically copy your wallet address. Be sure to check the first two and last four digits of your wallet address to ensure you are sending your Ethereum to the correct wallet.
Now we return to your Coinbase account and log in. Go to the trading tab and select it. This will bring up a few options for you, such as buy, sell, convert; we will choose SEND. Now Coinbase will display their entire list of cryptocurrencies on their platform. We are going to the Ethereum Blockchain, so we need to locate Ethereum on this list. Now that you have found Eth go ahead and select it. Next, is a window asking how much you want to send. This page usually defaults to your fiat currency for value. You can click the up/down arrows to the right of the value if you prefer to see the Eth value instead.
Either way, put the amount you wish to send on this screen. Once you have the amount, go ahead and click the continue button. Keep in mind; you will be charged a fee to send funds; usually, it averages around $15USD. The next screen displays an address box. This is where we paste your wallet address. You can do this by pressing control V or right click your mouse, and you will see an option to paste. Now your wallet address is in the text box, confirm the first two digits and last four, match your wallet address. Once you hit send is the point of no return, so be sure you are sending it to your wallet. Once confirmed, press the Preview Send Button. This will prompt you with a confirmation screen. Confirm your fee to send and then click send Your Eth is on its way to your wallet. This may take a few minutes, so don’t fret.
Buy your Heros on Uniswap
Open up your Metamask wallet and confirm your funds are there. If they are, we can proceed to the Browser; if not, give it a few minutes and check again. Next, we type in your search bar Uniswap.io or on mobile to the browser and search. In the search results, select Uniswap.io and continue to their web page. Then choose Launch App. Eth will usually populate in the top section. It will also show how much Eth you have. In the lower box, we need to get Heros.
Click on Select A Token. It will populate a list of tokens, but we want to navigate to the bottom where it says “Manage Token Lists.” Once you have found it, give it a click. The next page says Manage at the top. Here we will select Tokens, Then paste our Heros address in the text box. The Heros address can be found on Dextools, Etherscan, Coin Market Cap, and Coin Gecko. But I will put it in the description also. 0x97bfc1700baf347659b525336b967aa375c05b01
Now that the address is pasted, you will see a message with an import button below. Go ahead and click Import. Now Heros should be showing in the lower box. If it isn’t, it will now be in the token list. Before we can make a trade, we need to find the Gear on the top right. Once you have located it, go ahead and expand it. In the first cell, you want to change your slippage to 12%. This is required due to those awesome tokenomics. Now click the gear again to close the window.
Now we can buy some Heros! Put the amount of Eth you wish to spend for you Heros. Keep in mind there will be a transaction fee that you will be charged to make this transaction. The transaction fee is also known as Gas Fees. The Gas Fee can range from a good day at around $80 to over $500. You need to be aware of this as it is an expense. My comfort zone is any price under $160. Ultimately it is your money, so it is yours to spend. Select the amount of Eth in the top box that you want to spend, keeping enough in reserve to pay the Gas Fee.
Once you have determined how much you want to spend, click the swap button. This will present a confirmation screen showing how many Heros you will get in this transaction. Go to the bottom and hit the Confirm Swap button. Next, you will see the Gas Fee for the trade. Provided you are ok with that amount of Gas Fee, hit Confirm, and the transaction is submitted. If it does not work, this happens when Heros is being traded heavily, increase your slippage by 1% and try again.
